  • About the Role
  • An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Principal Marketing Strategy & Technical, to lead our key strategy and commercial responsibilities for the Metals Marketing Strategy team in the Minerals Americas region. Our team's purpose is to "maximize value by leveraging our capabilities, diversity and global perspectives to link our assets to our markets". The role is based in Santiago.
  • Reporting into the Head of Marketing Strategy for Metals, you will represent Marketing in the Asset Leadership teams and work collaboratively across the Metals sales teams, regions, and other functions to drive marketing activities and provide commercial insights into asset growth options and strategic projects.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Demonstrates and instils an overriding commitment to health, safety (Field Leadership Program), environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
  • Represents Metals Marketing on Escondida and Pampa Norte Asset Leadership Teams.
  • Leads engagement with Minerals America assets and functions (e.g. Planning & Technical, Portfolio Strategy & Development) and Marketing deliverables in relation to CAP deliverables (e.g. Asset Strategy, LoA, 2YB), asset studies, and organic growth options
  • Supports the formulation and embedment Marketing strategy for BHP's copper and byproducts.
  • Establishes routines to regularly check adherence to plan are agreed and implemented.
  • Works collaboratively with functions within the Metals Trading & Marketing Unit (TMU) including Technical Marketing, Sales and Sales Operations.
  • Understands key value and cost drivers for our products (mine to customer) and uses this knowledge to support the identification and execution of commercial value initiatives in collaboration with Minerals America assets.


 About You

  • Bachelor ́s degree related to the position.
  • Effective communication: Encourages debate, collaboration and possibility.
  • 10+ years of valuation, commercial, business development and/or technical background in mining and resources.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment with good interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • High degree of persuasion, influencing and negotiation skills combined with autonomy.
  • Proven track record of contributing to development of strategic and tactical plans.
