Key Responsibilities

The MAKO Sales Specialist is tasked with expanding Stryker's Robotic business by promoting MAKO to Orthopaedic Surgeons and enhancing customer service while growing existing accounts through technical expertise. The role encompasses the MAKO clinical selling process.

  • Uphold Stryker's ethical standards by treating customers and colleagues with respect and representing the company positively.
  • Communicate the essential benefits of products and their clinical applications effectively.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service with integrity and fulfill commitments within designated timelines.
  • Collaborate with mentors/managers to develop a basic business plan, with daily, weekly, and monthly planning established in partnership with the mentor and RSM.
  • Build rapport and understand the significance of relationships in sales, employing open questioning techniques to identify customer needs and leveraging key brands to create opportunities for the sales team.
  • Recognize the multiple stakeholders involved in the decision-making process and ask pertinent questions to identify them.
  • Work under close supervision, keeping supervisors informed of work status, and understand that failure to achieve results can typically be remedied without significant impact on revenue or budget.
  • Meet sales targets in alignment with annual sales goals and KPI metrics.
  • Plan, prioritize, and execute necessary activities and customer support.
  • Segment the sales area to focus on acquiring new customers and expanding existing accounts for new applications, in collaboration with the implant sales team.
  • Maintain existing customer relationships to ensure satisfaction and quality, collaborating with the Sales Team and other departments.
  • Develop short- and medium-term strategies with customers to secure and strengthen Stryker's market position.
  • Engage in effective communication and negotiation with customers to foster profitable and sustainable relationships.
  • Conduct market observations to enhance personal positioning and continuously analyze the assigned area.
  • Address customer challenges and devise solutions with the support of Sales Managers, BUMs, and the Sales Team.
  • Participate in internal meetings to discuss organizational, developmental, and business matters while enhancing relevant knowledge and skills.
  • Administer IT-based customer databases/CRM tools.
  • Be accountable for the clinical selling process, identifying and nurturing key clinical advocates through the sales funnel (MAKO Pathway).

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of sales experience, preferably in Orthopaedics.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • Preferred background in Market knowledge and Medical or Life Sciences.
  • Prior experience in selling capital goods or consumables requiring explanation, or extensive experience in clinical settings.
  • Excellent communication skills with proficiency in both spoken and written English.
  • Outgoing and persuasive demeanor with the ability to engage with individuals holding diverse beliefs or values.
  • Confidence and ability to engage with customers on equal footing to discuss medical and economic matters.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
