Context:


The purpose of the Marketing BU is to sustainably maximize cash flows from the marketing of Anglo-American products and services.

In support of this, we have set ourselves a target to deliver a considerable uplift in Value by 2023.


The Base Metals business environment is experiencing increased levels of complexity and uncertainty, which require greater agility and robust processes, to avoid value leakage while optimizing 3rd party trading and equity sales operations for value maximization.


Over the next years the business will be undergoing significant transformation including stabilization of new systems and processes, increasing complexity on the trading environment, and seeking to leverage support across commodities.

New commodities, new equity assets (Quellaveco), new business activities (trading and S&O) and a re-organization of logistics activities will also reshape the business going forward.

This role is fundamental in delivering the trading ambitions for Base Metals.


This role plays therefore a key part in designing and continuously optimizing the sales operations platforms/systems within BMM (Copper, Molybdenum, sulfuric acid), considering that the business increases in complexity over time with the introduction of enhanced trading, sourcing and origination and financing activities linked to the commodities mentioned above.

Focus of the role is strongly on sales operations for equity and traded/sourced materials, including the management of molybdenum tolling operations in Chile.


Purpose:

Provide best in class customer service to enable the realization of strong margins.


Optimize the end-to-end supply chain from Mine to Customer by managing all relevant sales operations activities across the Base Metals portfolio in Chile, Brazil and Peru, including Anglo American Sur, Collahuasi, Quellaveco, Barro Alto and trading activities in the region.

Deliver a best-in-class Sales Operations function for Americas focused on effectiveness (customer satisfaction, working capital management and compliance) and efficiency (total cost to serve).


Key Tasks:

Lead the Sales Ops team, Americas

  • Effectively lead the Sales Operations teams in Chile, Brazil and Peru, ensuring full management of team members and achievement of agreed business targets. Lead a team of around 14 people in the region. Support personal and professional development of direct reports and employees once removed.
  • Manage the onboarding of sales operations for the sales, trading and tolling of commodities in the region. Adjust the sales ops and contract admin capabilities against the new business realities and optimize the system and performance on an ongoing basis.
  • Deliver the integration of sales operations for the Quellaveco project in Peru.
  • Lead a systematic review of system requirements (incl Aspect) with input from the rest of the Base Metals Sales Operations function.

Plan team resourcing and lead regional stakeholder interactions:

  • Manage team resources to address several trade-offs between various systems such as a) management of customer claims and compensation, b) payments to 3rd party suppliers, c) interface with banks for the financing of working capital, d) timely delivery of invoices, and others.
