Kennedys is looking for a Finance Assistant to join the Santiago office.
**Team**
The Kennedys office in Santiago opened in 2016. The team is made up of 8 employees and 3 partners. They advise on all aspects of insurance law and litigation, including the defence of claims, policy wordings, coverage advice and corporate insurance. The team have significant experience in resolving high value and complex claims, particularly in relation to mining, energy and financial lines.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Ensure all accounting information is reported correctly and completely for the closing of the month
- Support the credit control process, also assisting with billing, invoicing and cashiering tasks as may be necessary
- Assist in the resolution of queries and submission of information requested by stakeholders.
- Collect and enter data for various financial spreadsheets and reports when requested
- Ensure that information is sent regularly to Partners and that any actions agreed are followed up
- Manage the daily spectrum of financial accounting and month end activities including, but not limited to general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, disbursement payments, employee expenses, credit control, payroll
- Liaise with the Global Finance team to produce, prepare and analyse balance sheets, Profit and Loss audit schedules, management reports, yearly financial statements and any other management reports required. Comply with Global Minimum Financial Standards set out by central finance team
- Work collaboratively with the global Finance and HR teams (London/Miami), the Partners and local suppliers (accountants/payroll) to ensure the smooth running of the financial transactions ensuring statutory compliance
- Provide support to the lawyers and partners by entering expenses, opening matters and time recording in Elite
- Work with the UK Elite team to resolve system issues and implement upgrades and changes to the system.
- Ensure compliance with global financial policies and maintain good internal controls and operational processes for audit review.
- Work with the global Finance teams (Miami/London) regarding inter-company reconciliation.
- Work with the Office Manager to help with cost management strategies and office projects.
**Required experience**
- Excellent English skills (written and spoken)
- Previous financial experience in a professional services or partnership environment
- High level of IT literacy
- Excellent communication skills
- Able to work on own initiative
- Highly organised and able to prioritise workloads, manage multiple projects and negotiate deadlines
- Experience using Elite 3e would be advantageous.
