The Senior Director, Corporate Affairs, LatAm will lead the development and delivery of an integrated corporate affairs plan to drive key regional business objectives and enhance global, regional, and local alignment. As part of a high-performing Global Corporate Affairs team, the role will closely partner with the LatAm Leadership team and be based in Latin America.

This role plays a pivotal role in providing strategic advice to the LatAm Area VP and Country Presidents on all aspects of corporate affairs to shape the business environment in which AstraZeneca operates and drive short and long-term business success.

**Typical Accountabilities**

**Leadership**
- Lead by influence and engage an integrated regional corporate affairs team covering government affairs, policy, patient advocacy, and external and internal communications
- Align the corporate affairs agenda with area senior leaders for medical, commercial, market access, regulatory, legal, compliance and finance to achieve AZ goals
- Lead strategic planning and response to issues and or crises, including media, employee and external stakeholder engagement, at area and at local level if required
- Execute global corporate affairs strategy, adapting area plans accordingly and identifying and capitalising on opportunities / managing risks
- Coach the area corporate affairs team to increase levels of capabilities and drive high levels of performance across all corporate affairs core functions and act as a talent ambassador for AstraZeneca
- Partner with AstraZeneca Latin America executives for key engagements and build enterprise capability in managing external affairs
- Build, maintain and leverage a comprehensive understanding of the external environment, with a view on mitigating emerging risks and leveraging future environmental opportunities
- Provide strategic insights and evaluation to help shape area and regional plans
- Manage budgets and suppliers effectively

**Functional**
- Develop, lead, and drive implementation of corporate and therapy government affairs, policy, advocacy, and communications strategy to drive AstraZeneca’s agenda in alignment with local organizations and global therapy areas
- Adapt Global Corporate Affairs strategy as per Area-specific needs and ensure execution at local level
- Actively build and sustain strategic, mutually respectful, transparent, and sustainable relationships with external stakeholders with Latin American scope to successfully drive and embed mutually beneficial projects in alignment with company priorities and with demonstrable impact on local AstraZeneca offices’ priorities
- Maintain clear engagement and alignment between AstraZeneca’s local and regional teams on priority corporate affairs matters, developing toolkits, supporting materials and guidance for local implementation
- Lead AstraZeneca’s participation on selected regional trade and policy organizations to help assure that the company is effectively represented and actively contributes on critical issues in public policy development and execution within these bodies
- Adapt and advance AstraZeneca’s policy positions for Latin America in collaboration with global and regional functions teams on corporate priority themes and key therapy areas
- Ensure Latin American representation in AstraZeneca’s Global Patient Advocacy projects and exchange opportunities
- Co-ordinate media responses at above-market and global level when appropriate, in close association with the global media team and local AstraZeneca offices
- Engage with key internal stakeholders, including global therapy area communications, global media, internal and corporate communications, to identify the right platforms and partnerships to implement shared corporate affairs priorities
- In partnership with global internal communications, develop and drive internal comms area-wide strategy, develop regional employee engagement strategies and effective employee communication channels to drive change and deepen understanding of company strategy in the Area
- Monitor and anticipate media, regulatory, and legislative activity at regional level for impact on AZ activities and develop shaping strategy as appropriate
- Establish issue/risk management and communication strategies and lead execution in collaboration with key functions
- Provide strategic advice and serve as a resource to the Area VP and Country Presidents related to corporate affairs strategy, key policy issues, and regional external stakeholder engagement. Prepare positions and briefs for key policy and engagement meetings for Latin America senior leaders
- Provide strategic counsel and build capabilities in local offices across the Corporate Affairs functions, to ensure development and effective execution of Corporate Affairs plans, partnering with Regional external stakehol
