We are seeking a highly skilled Property Underwriting Specialist to join our team at Everest Insurance Chile. As a key member of our underwriting community, you will play a critical role in the development and execution of our Chile underwriting strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce, underwrite, and service accounts, ensuring timely and accurate completion of documentation.
  • Expand the Property portfolio in line with controls, underwriting strategy, and guidelines, while maintaining a focus on bottom-line underwriting profit and delivery.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key brokers and clients, fostering strong partnerships and driving business growth.
  • Underwrite and price Property risks, including all forms of distribution, and determine the acceptability of risks for underwriting.
  • Bind various coverages subject to authority level and answer inquiries from producers, ensuring seamless communication and customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare quotations and formal proposals on new and renewal business, showcasing our expertise and building trust with clients.
  • Ensure documentation is completed timely and accurately according to standards, maintaining the highest level of quality and integrity.
  • Assist the Head of Property in addressing and resolving overdues, workflow, and various critical issues as necessary, driving process improvements and efficiency.
  • Effectively communicate with management on all issues both within and outside the Unit as needed, promoting transparency and collaboration.
  • Interact and coordinate activities with other departments, fostering a culture of teamwork and cooperation.
  • Liaise with other underwriting departments as necessary, ensuring a unified approach and shared goals.
  • Recommend new procedures and programs where warranted, driving innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Furnish intelligence on the Property market, including competitor strengths and weaknesses, informing our underwriting strategy and decision-making.
  • Comply with proper internal controls necessary to conduct job functions and responsibilities, upholding the highest standards of ethics and integrity.
  • Develop business through execution of new ideas and strategies, driving growth and revenue.
  • Assist the Head of Property in CAT management, ensuring timely and effective response to catastrophic events.
  • Assist the Head of Property in follow-up UW performance, monitoring and improving underwriting results.
  • Assist the Head of Property in commercial activity management and achievement of Property Department's goals, driving success and excellence.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree or equivalent in business or a related field.
  • 4-10 years of property and/or energy underwriting experience.
  • Advanced English (required).
  • Experience in shared and layered (preferred) insurance market.
  • Knowledgeable about Catastrophe management and property policy wordings.
  • Outstanding interpersonal relationship building, employee coaching, and development skills.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other relevant tools.
