About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional to join our team as Director of Reefer Operations, Special Cargo and DG Manager at our Viña del Mar office in Region Latin America.

Main Responsibilities
  • Drive business performance by ensuring volume targets are met for all three niche segments: Reefer, Special Cargo & Dangerous Goods.
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies for each segment to achieve volume and container load targets.
  • Lead business unit processes for all three niches, serving as the primary liaison with the Reefer, Special Cargo and DG team in Hamburg.
  • Collaborate with areas to drive business development, focusing on growing existing business and acquiring new customers.
  • Closely coordinate with global network planning teams to leverage existing relationships and maximize value for all three niches.
  • Translate and execute regional strategies for all niches in alignment with the Reefer, Special Cargo and DG team in Hamburg.
  • Closely align with trade management on targets and trade strategy.
  • Initiate process improvements and best practice sharing across regions and areas.
  • Assist areas with contract conditions for niche customers.
  • Continuously review and evaluate options for business optimization.
  • Participate in regional and area performance calls.
  • Participate in trade and commodity fairs.
  • Identify and arrange niche product training as required.
  • Closely coordinate with regional operations to ensure equipment steering activities align with niche product strategy and targets.
  • Drive the highest levels of quality towards customers, be customer-oriented, and create value for customers and Hapag-Lloyd.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • University degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or similar.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the shipping industry.
  • Advanced level in English (written and spoken).
  • Skills in Spanish language are a plus.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to organize and review data with accuracy.
  • Ability to identify the root cause of complex issues, develop ideas to solve the issue, and determine and implement required business changes.
  • Proven leadership experience, team player with the ability to motivate others and drive change.
  • Willingness to travel for short periods.
