Lead Business Area Manager

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will lead the implementation of a high-impact sales strategy for Motion products in the Chilean market, prioritizing direct engagement with end users while leveraging other strategic channels to drive growth. Each day, you will define, plan, lead, and ensure the execution of the sales strategy to achieve both qualitative and quantitative sales targets for Motion products and systems to ensure sustainable order growth, increased market share, sales productivity, and customer satisfaction. You will also showcase your expertise by leading, developing, and coaching the Sales organization to achieve the sales targets through high performance. This is a unique opportunity to shape market dynamics, strengthen ABB's presence, and achieve ambitious business objectives. The work model for the role is hybrid. This role is contributing to the Motion business area in Chile. You will be mainly accountable for:

  1. Executing the sales strategies of the Motion Divisions and achieving their sales targets.
  2. Leading a team of successful salespeople located throughout the country.
  3. Identifying and evaluating new opportunities with existing and potential customers, determining plans for implementation, and allocating required resources.
  4. Managing the sales pipeline, ensuring a high hit rate.
  5. Acting upon leads generated by marketing campaigns.
  6. Engaging with senior leaders at customer sites to discuss their energy efficiency and decarbonization strategies.
  7. Anticipating and identifying any shortfalls in performance and taking appropriate remedial actions proactively.
  8. Participating in the negotiation of key opportunities.
  9. Upskilling your team on key topics such as sustainability, decarbonization, energy efficiency, and ISO 50001.

Qualifications for the role
  • Degree in Civil Industrial Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • You are immersed in the market for electric motors and drives with strong industry experience.
  • You have extensive experience in understanding and quickly adapting to the market, making you a key reference for the sales team, especially in motors and drives.
  • You possess an enhanced knowledge of sales, customer relationship management, and consultative selling techniques.
  • You are passionate about leadership, team and people management, and fostering collaboration across divisions.
  • You are highly adept at navigating complex sales situations and resolving issues with clients, especially in the mining and pulp and paper industries.
  • You are at ease communicating in advanced English.
  • You must have availability for domestic travel up to 30% of the time, as well as occasional international travel.
