Overview


We are currently looking for a Control and Risk Manager, based in Chile and reporting into the MA Risk organization.


The principal responsibility of the role, in the second line of defense Risk team, consists in implementation and oversight of the risk management program in Chile, ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations credit, liquidity, operational risk and cybersecurity matters.

Role

  • Establish and maintain the entity's risk management framework (e.g., policies, procedures, taxonomies) in alignment with global policies and ensuring compliance with local regulations
  • Obtain annual approval of the risk management framework by the local Board of Directors
  • Oversee and challenge risk identification and assessment processes by the first line of defense to timely identify, measure, evaluate, mitigate, monitor, and report the risks faced by the entity, inclusive of but not limited to credit, liquidity, operational and cybersecurity risks
  • Work with first line of defense to establish key indicators to monitor risks facing the market
  • Engage with Business Unit Risk Champions and Risk Program Leads to review and challenge risk assessment activities, e.g., risk workshops, executive interviews, etc within the market
  • Support development of an appropriate control inventory and control testing program
  • Assess the adequacy of controls and risk mitigation plans for identified risks
  • Support the identification and assessment of emerging and evolving risks
  • Ensure escalation and reporting of key risks to the Company's risk governance forums
  • Ensure that identified risks are operating within the risk appetite of the Company and local market; oversee risk remediation plans for breaches of appetite within the market
  • Ensure key risks are recorded and captured, by risk owners, within the Company's GRC tool
  • Support the establishment and maintenance of a robust entity internal control framework that complies with regulations, including segregation of responsibilities between first vs second line of defense where required
  • Work with MA Tech to ensure incident management and reporting processes in line with local requirements
  • Working with Enterprise Resilience, ensure the market maintains an appropriate business continuity and disaster recovery plan, in line with local regulatory expectation
  • Act as point of contact for risk matters with the local regulator. In coordination with the Regulatory Affairs team, oversee remediation plans related regulatory findings identified with respect to credit, liquidity, operational and cybersecurity risk, where relevant
Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong analytic skills and understanding of the payment industry in Chile
  • Deep knowledge of risk management, regulatory frameworks, control standards
  • Knowledge and background in credit, liquidity, operational risk and cybersecurity
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence at all levels of management
  • Risk management experience in a bank, or financial services/payments company
  • Experience managing both financial and non financial risks
  • Knowledge of Chilean payments regulations and prior experience interacting with local regulator
  • Highly effective communicator who can present credibly to multiple types of audiences
  • Ability to develops strong relationships across crossfunctional and diverse groups
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the payments industry, competitive environment and consumer trends
