Bechtel is seeking a Field Engineer Electrical for the Mining & Metals team, based in Chile. The position will be assigned to the field construction organization in managing the activities of the assigned contractors works.
Responsible for overseeing appointed Contractor's job site Electrical installation activities related to construction of temporary facilities and ensure that the construction operations and contractor's performance are in compliance with project ES&H, quality, schedule requirements, whilst maintaining effective relationships when interfacing with stakeholders.
Responsibilities
The Field Engineer Electrical is principally responsible for:
- Performing surveillance of Contractor's activities w.r.t Electrical works on the project related to construction of temporary facilities and ensuring all electrical commodities and its bulks are installed as per the IFC drawings, specifications, and project quality & safety plans.
- Assisting subordinate construction engineers and superintendents in interpreting design drawings, monitoring equipment installation and planning for delivery of construction materials and equipment, and assuring that proper warehousing and storage exists to ensure environmental protection.
- Reviewing specifications, purchase orders, subcontracts, inspection reports, delivery schedules, instruction manuals and technical data.
- Administrating assigned subcontracts to ensure contract remains up to date in areas such as drawings, specifications, cost, and schedule.
- Coordinating with the Field Construction Manager on activities affecting the contract administration operation.
- Coordinating with engineering design on constructability issues.
- Maintaining Bechtel's Zero Accident Philosophy, and ensuring contractor's compliance to the project ES&H plans, site security plan, traffic plans, emergency response plan, housekeeping, fire protection and jobsite work rules.
- Ensuring that the Quality requirements are met, and the works are executed as per IFC drawings, standards, codes, and project specifications.
- Identifying and reviewing contractors NCRs, RFIs, FCRs, or other change documents and its effective implementation to prevent recurrence within the project.
- Reviewing and commenting the contractor's submittals, technical queries, field change documents and other technical documents including Drawings and As-Builts.
- Supporting and guiding contractor to achieve the safety, quality, and schedule requirements.
- Ensuring required permits and licenses are in place prior to the start of works at site.
- Ensuring that all required reporting, including daily reports are collated, reviewed, and submitted on time.
- Ensuring the closure of construction activities are systematic and complete in all respects.
Qualifications and Skills
Basic Qualifications
The Field Engineer Electrical shall be knowledgeable and/or experienced in:
- A recognized bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering (or international equivalent), and a minimum 10 years of professional experience, or 15 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree; AND a minimum of 8 years of experience in construction of large-scale industrial / Infrastructure projects in direct construction, construction management role.
Additional Qualifications
- Experience of working in mountainous terrains, in construction of region connecting projects such as roads, rails, related utilities and other infrastructures like camps, approaches, lifestyle buildings etc.
- Thorough knowledge of international standards and specification and codes as applicable, including various Safety procedures and practices associated with the Electrical installation.
- Knowledge and experience in the implementation of ES&H and quality management systems.
- Experience in KSA / Middle east
