Position Summary
Bechtel is seeking a Field Engineer Electrical for the Mining & Metals team, based in Chile.

The position will be The Field Engineer - Civil will be assigned to the field construction organization in managing the activities of the assigned contractors works.

Responsible for overseeing appointed Contractor's job site activities and ensure that the construction operations and contractor's performance are in compliance with project ES&H, quality, schedule requirements, whilst maintaining effective relationships when interfacing with stakeholders.


Responsibilities

The Field Engineer Electrical is principally responsible for:

  • Responsible for construction oversight and ensuring compliance of Contractor's works are carried out as per as per schedule, and ensures compliance to ES&H plans, quality standards, and local/national regulatory safety codes
  • Reviewing specifications, purchase orders, subcontracts, inspection reports, delivery schedules, instruction manuals and technical data.
  • Administrating assigned subcontracts to ensure contract remains up to date in areas such as drawings, specifications, cost, and schedule.
  • Coordinating with the Lead field engineer on activities affecting the contract administration operation.
  • Coordinating with engineering design on constructability issues.
  • Maintaining Bechtel's Zero Accident Philosophy, and ensuring contractor's compliance to the project ES&H plans, site security plan, traffic plans, emergency response plan, housekeeping, fire protection and jobsite work rules.
  • Ensuring that the Quality requirements are met, and the works are executed as per IFC drawings, standards, codes, and project specifications.
  • Reviewing all Material testing results and ensuring compliance with design specifications and standards.
  • Identifying and reviewing contractors NCRs, RFIs, FCRs, or other change documents and its effective implementation to prevent recurrence within the project.
  • Reviewing and commenting the contractor's submittals, technical queries, field change documents and other technical documents including Drawings and As-Builts.
  • Supporting and guiding contractor to achieve the safety, quality, and schedule requirements.
  • Coordinating interfaces between functions, contractors and stakeholders involved at site.
  • Ensuring that all required reporting, including daily reports are collated, reviewed, and submitted on time.
  • Ensuring the closure of construction activities are systematic and complete in all respects.
  • Ensuring that vendors' bids for material are in conformance to specifications.

Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications
The Field Engineer Electrical shall be knowledgeable and/or experienced in:

  • A recognized bachelor's or master's degree in Civil/Structural or any discipline in Engineering (or international equivalent), and a minimum 10 years of professional experience; OR 15 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree, and a minimum of 8 years of experience in construction of large-scale industrial / Infrastructure projects either in direct construction or construction management role.

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience in earthwork, installation of concrete and structural steel.
  • Experience is quantity take off for civil & structural items as per drawings.
  • Experience of working in mountainous terrains, in construction of region connecting projects such as roads, rails, related utilities and other infrastructures like camps, approaches, lifestyle buildings etc.
  • Thorough knowledge of international standards and specification and codes as applicable, including various Safety procedures and practices associated with the construction.
  • Knowledge and experience in the implementation of ES&H and quality management systems.
  • Experience in KSA / Middle east / GCC is preferred.
