Benefits Account Executive

Job Summary
The Account Executive serves as a key liaison between clients and carrier representatives, driving the development and execution of client benefit strategies. This role requires in-depth knowledge of medical, life, disability, and other benefit plans, as well as expertise in federal and state regulations impacting these plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a subject matter expert on Health & Welfare Benefits, vendor/carrier products, and services.
- Manage a significant book of business, with a focus on revenue growth and client expansion.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, prospects, and carriers.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends and regulatory issues, providing clients with informed guidance.
- Proactively identify client needs and develop strategies to address challenges.
- Utilize Risk Strategies resources and tools to maximize efficiency and deliver high-quality results.
- Project manage book of business, ensuring timely delivery of client objectives.
- Understand fundamental underwriting concepts to communicate funding alternatives and impact to rates.
- Manage request for proposals and renewals, negotiating with carriers and making recommendations to clients.
- Oversee open enrollment process for clients, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
- Accountability for all work product provided to clients, including updates in relevant software.
- Review work, provide feedback, and mentor junior team members.
Requirements and Qualifications
- BA/BS degree preferred.
- 5+ years of health & welfare experience, with a strong understanding of core practice competency-based skills.
- Client-facing experience in the employee benefit industry.
- Technical knowledge of benefits administration, HealthCare Reform, industry trends, and carrier products and services.
- Ability to work independently and anticipate client and team needs.
- Effective time management and follow-up skills.
- Strong communication and critical thinking skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.
- Life, Accident, and Health Insurance License required.
- GBA or CEBS Certification a plus.
