Job Summary

The Account Executive serves as a key liaison between clients and carrier representatives, driving the development and execution of client benefit strategies. This role requires in-depth knowledge of medical, life, disability, and other benefit plans, as well as expertise in federal and state regulations impacting these plans.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Act as a subject matter expert on Health & Welfare Benefits, vendor/carrier products, and services.
  2. Manage a significant book of business, with a focus on revenue growth and client expansion.
  3. Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, prospects, and carriers.
  4. Stay up-to-date on industry trends and regulatory issues, providing clients with informed guidance.
  5. Proactively identify client needs and develop strategies to address challenges.
  6. Utilize Risk Strategies resources and tools to maximize efficiency and deliver high-quality results.
  7. Project manage book of business, ensuring timely delivery of client objectives.
  8. Understand fundamental underwriting concepts to communicate funding alternatives and impact to rates.
  9. Manage request for proposals and renewals, negotiating with carriers and making recommendations to clients.
  10. Oversee open enrollment process for clients, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  11. Accountability for all work product provided to clients, including updates in relevant software.
  12. Review work, provide feedback, and mentor junior team members.

Requirements and Qualifications

  1. BA/BS degree preferred.
  2. 5+ years of health & welfare experience, with a strong understanding of core practice competency-based skills.
  3. Client-facing experience in the employee benefit industry.
  4. Technical knowledge of benefits administration, HealthCare Reform, industry trends, and carrier products and services.
  5. Ability to work independently and anticipate client and team needs.
  6. Effective time management and follow-up skills.
  7. Strong communication and critical thinking skills.
  8. Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.
  9. Life, Accident, and Health Insurance License required.
  10. GBA or CEBS Certification a plus.
