- About the Role-
- Oversee the direction for day to day management of the Pampa Norte Corporate Affairs function including planning, budgeting and people development
- Ensure the function’s and operations strategies are fully integrated with the company’s overarching global Corporate Affairs, External Affairs and Pampa Norte’s business strategy
- Act as a key strategic advisor on Corporate Affairs to Pampa Norte’s Asset President and member of the Pampa Norte Leadership Team
- Member of the CALTA accountable for working collaboratively with peers on the enhancement of strategy, practice and capability across the team
- Partner with Executive Leadership Team members and other senior roles to ensure that operational, strategic and emerging policy, political and community risks are understood and well controlled
- Provide CA input into Pampa Norte business strategy and plans and governance for external affairs activities across Pampa Norte
- Manage Spence and CMCC relationships with key external stakeholders including local, state and national governments
- Ensure active, regular monitoring, analysis and research of political and community attitudes to Spence and CMCC
- Oversees the development and execution of BHP’s strategy for engaging with communities in jurisdictions where Pampa Norte’s operations operates
- Oversees the design, management and evaluation of local and regional social investment programs in in jurisdictions where Pampa Norte’s operations operate or may operate.
- Leads the development of social investment strategies which integrate to Social Value, Government Relations and broader Function and Asset priorities
- Oversees BHP’s membership of and representation on industry associations, trade associations and business groups in relevant countries and ensures a global approach
- Works closely with the Global Indigenous Engagement team to drive the implementation of BHP’s Indigenous Engagement strategy across Pampa Norte
- About You- Minimum requirements:
- Tertiary qualification in politics, economics, communications, business or related field required; Masters, MBA or other advance degree preferred
- 15+ years of experience in a broad range of corporate affairs competencies, including government and community relations, stakeholder engagement and indigenous relations
- Significant experience advising business leaders at executive group level and leading communications, public and government affairs and community relations
- Ability to convert public policy to business meaning.
- Experience working in the mining industry.
- Experience engaging and reaching agreements with indigenous and non-indigenous communities.
- Exceptional communications skills including capability to effectively engage with and advise colleagues at all levels of the Company.
- Spanish and English language fluency required.
