About the Role

This role is responsible for annual planning, development and execution of the communication strategy for Pampa Norte ́s Asset. This plan requires to be aligned with BHP ́s Regional and Global Communication Strategy, working closely and in coordination with the Comms and Corporate Affairs Latin America team, based in Santiago.

As part of the role, you will be responsible for counseling on strategic matters as well as Business as usual, effectively portraying the opportunities and risks initiatives decisions may entitle. You will be also responsible for advising and crafting key corporate messages and coaching team members and stakeholders in communication abilities, delivering high value communications materials and working towards promoting and protecting Pampa Norte and BHP ́s s positioning and reputation.
This position requires to travel regularly to Pampa Norte Assets (Spence and Cerro Colorado).

The main accountabilities of the role are:


• Develop and implement an annual communication strategy and tactic plan for Pampa Norte (including objectives, key messages, communication channels, and annual calendar for key activities), ensuring consistency between operations, assets and leadership team communications.


• Writing and editing internal communications products such as newsletters, monthly reports, scripts for events, presentations, and videos, among others.


• Planning and coordinating Pampa Norte's events and internal communications activities such as town halls, celebrations, team building events to cascade BHP and Pampa Norte strategy and key messages.


• Monitoring and evaluating communication's effectiveness, using metrics and KPIs, applying surveys, and working with other teams to ensure event participation and success, according to defined objectives.

About You

To be a top performer you will need:

Accreditations and Qualifications


• Journalism, Public Relations or related degree.

• At least 8 years of experience in strategic communications, both internal and external comms.

• Previous experience in written press a plus.

• Native Spanish and advanced English Proficiency.

Pivotal Experiences for the role


• Proven written skills across all channels, including leadership communications, speeches, etc.

• Proven senior analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Proven Project management skills to design, plan and implement a program, following up on its progress.

• Knowledge of digital tools and channels (e.g. Microsoft Office) – for presentations.

• Stakeholder management experience at all levels.

• Strong ability to work with different teams across the organization.

• Attention to detail and processes for QAQC.

• Active listening

• Confidence & Friendliness: interaction with others and even tackle issues such as potential conflicts in the workplace.

• Knowledge of how media works.
