Position Name: HS Chilean University Placement Counselor
Reports to: High School Principal and National Plan Principal
Time commitment: 60%

The High School Chilean University Placement and Local Internships Counselor is a position that
oversees preparation for the PAES (Prueba de Acceso a la Educación Superior). The Counselor
fosters partnerships to establish local internship opportunities for juniors and seniors as part of the
school’s vocational program. This position is part of the High School Counseling Office and
collaborates on course selection to ensure NP students meet Ministry of Education requirements
and future goals.

**Preferred Qualifications and Experiences**
Educator or Psychologist with a Degree from Chile
- 10 years of experience or more
- Fluent in Spanish and English
- Active network in Chile
- Knowledge of the Chilean University Admission System

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**

**Course Selection for NP students**
- Conduct one-on-one meetings with NP students and their families to align High School

course selections with Chilean Ministry of Education requirements and university
prerequisites.
** University Outreach**
- Build and maintain strong connections with both public and private Chilean universities.
- Organize events such as University Day and the University Fair to provide students with
- direct access to university representatives.
- Arrange campus visits to Chilean universities, offering students first-hand exposure to
- university environments.
- Facilitate meetings between Nido students and university admissions offices to provide

guidance on admissions requirements.

**Vocational Guidance**
- Administer and interpret vocational assessment tests, followed by individual meetings with

students and parents to review results and align career goals with educational plans.
- Conduct group workshops and individual meetings with students and parents to support

decision-making.
** Admission and PAES preparation**
- Oversee all aspects of admissions preparation for Chilean universities, including PAES

performance tracking and reporting annually to the school community.
- Manage the Nido Preuniversitario for PAES preparation, including hiring and evaluating

teachers, coordinating logistics, and organizing monthly PAES practice exams.
- Support students with the Direct Admission process for both August and March entry dates.
- Lead social-emotional workshops for students preparing for the PAES and guide them

**Parent Engagement and Communication**
- Develop and implement workshops and informational sessions for parents to educate them

Foster open lines of communication to address parental questions and concerns, ensuring
they are actively involved in their child's academic and vocational planning.

**Local Internship**
- Create a network with local organizations and businesses to provide internship

opportunities for junior and senior students, national and non-national plan.
- Envision these opportunities as an authentic learning experience, especially designed for
