Supports MSB properties in Central America and South America.
The Manager is a key member of the Finance Central and South America Area team. This portfolio of 20+ hotels generates over $100M in annual revenues across 10+ countries.

This position will assume a key role in achieving financial objectives through specialized financial and operational knowledge. This resource will provide support primarily in areas related to the operating budgeting, forecasting, capital budgeting processes, and internal controls compliance.

**EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS**

**Operating Budgeting and Forecasting Process**
- Partner with the Area Director of Finance and with the MSB Area Director to deliver annual operating budget guidelines in MSB hotels
- Partner with internal stakeholders to support Marriott’s annual budgeting process and calendar
- Manage planning/preparation process of budget schedules and reports for report-out to Senior Management.
- Lead the development, continuous improvement and testing of budgeting tools and systems
- Collaborate with internal corporate and regional departments and new opening-hotels General Managers to assist in the preparation and posting of stub year operating budgets as necessary
- Oversee data analysis to support the forecasting process

**Capital Expenditure Process**
- Partner with the Area Director of Finance and with the MSB Area Director to lead the overall facilitation of Marriott’s capital expenditure budget and forecasting processes for MSB hotels.
- Conduct budget review to ensure that budgets appropriately reflect Marriott’s capital strategy and provide appropriately recommendations to market financial and operations leaders
- Perform budget analysis and identify funding shortfalls and to support the resolution of other capital expenditure business issues.
- Support stakeholders (i.e. Operations, Owners, Brand Management and discipline leads) in developing and communication of budgeting strategy and guidelines
- Coordinate budget schedules and reports for presentation to Senior Management and Owners
- Provide support to Hotel GM’s and Regional teams during the annual capital budgeting process
- Partner with the HQ Governance team to update and communicate capital expenditure policies and procedures to the market organization, ensuring consistency with GAAP, MIPs, and Management Agreements. Monitor compliance with policies and procedures; ensure that strong internal controls are in place
- Accountable for providing capital expenditure analysis in support of acquisitions, refinancing’s and other workouts
- Oversee project-specific inquiries of senior management and other stakeholders

**Reporting and Analysis**
- Lead market-based reporting and operations analysis and provide recommendations on findings
- Develop, create and maintain country, brand and Owner portfolio analysis. Analyze performance with actionable information for monthly distribution to CALA Regional leaders and Owner Account reps.
- Develop presentations and financial reporting packages for senior management
- Use financial data, data trends and market information to accurately assess performance, identify risks and deliver quality solutions to critical business issues.

**_Financial Leadership _**
- _Support the region’s Finance and Accounting discipline_
- _Work together with the Area Director of Finance and with the MSB Area Director in putting in place appropriate processes, metrics and controls to manage business risks and ensure strong accounting & operational control environment to safeguard assets, improve operations and profitability in the region_
- _Collaborate in developing and implementing processes and tools to enhance the Area's ability to make sound business decisions and identify opportunities to increase profits. Educates property teams on profit maximization and help them identify opportunities to increase profits in their properties._
- _Help to ensure that GMs and DOFs are knowledgeable about the management contract and deal structure for their property, and that are in compliance with contract requirements. _
- _Cooperate implementing processes necessary to provide accurate, timely and meaningful financial information to key stakeholders in the region. Encourages best practice sharing among hotel controllers._
- BS/BA in accounting, finance, or related field.
- Marriott experience as a hotel Assistant Director, Controller or Director of Finance preferred.
- 4+ years of relevant accounting/finance experience.
- Global mindset; able to work with diverse stakeholders’ enterprise-wide with focus on developing and integrating best practices across all brands & businesses
