Overview An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Service Manager post within the medical directorate at University Hospital Monklands. The successful candidate will work as a key member of the Management Team supporting the Service Manager and the Management Team in the operational and performance management of the Service. They will also make recommendations to the service and provide guidance to staff on service redesign and improvement initiatives in line with NHS Lanarkshire’s strategic objectives. What we’ll need you to bring Knowledge Educated to Degree level in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience. Evidence of continued professional development. Experience Significant experience of working within a clinical service at a senior level delivering service change. Significant experience of working at a senior management level within the NHS. Proven experience in achieving significant service improvement in a complex environment. Demonstrable experience of managing complex relationships to achieve and deliver service change. Proven experience of successful programme management. Significant demonstrable experience in the alignment of governance compliance as a pre requisite requirement within service improvement. Skills Expert understanding of a range of clinical best practice and service improvement techniques and methodologies. Proven understanding of the NHS, its services, environment and current issues at all levels. Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence. It would be great if you also have Evidence of management education and training Experience of successfully facilitating, leading and achieving service change Demonstrable experience of budget management and business planning Experience of working in acute hospital setting, ideally within operational management Knowledge of waiting times management within a healthcare setting Ability to provide effective, credible communication Ability to achieve results through people Effective leadership skills Evidence of effective problem solving skills Influencing and negotiation skills Contract type Fixed Term or Secondment until March 2027 Full time 37 hours Please note this is a fixed term post until March 2027. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.
