Responsibilities:


The intern takes part in the Spanish Unit daily work, and in the Terminology and Reference Unit work as need be.

Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual's background and the internship period

Duties may include:
translation, editing and reference work of ECLAC documents.

Education

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:
(a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or,

(b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).

  • For this internship, studies in the area of translation, editing, linguistics or related area is desirable.
Work Experience

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in Spanish and English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language would be an asset.

NOTE:
"Fluency" equals a rating of ''fluent'' in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand) and ̈knowledge of ̈ equals a rating of ''confident'' in two of the four areas.
