The intern may assist in implementing various initiatives within the Human Resources Section (Administration, Recruitment and Staff Development Units).

The intern will be under the overall supervision of the Chief of the Human Resources Section and directly supervised by the Human Resources Officer (Chief of Unit) in charge of the Unit assigned.


Responsibilities:

Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual's background and the Unit to which the intern might be assigned:

(a) Recruitment Unit:

  • Provide support with the administration and management of the Internship Programme for
ECLAC;

  • Provide support throughout the different stages of the recruitment process;
  • Organize information and documentation in the Unit Document Librarires;
  • Support the generation and update of the content and layout development of Opportunity website page to improve employer branding
  • Support outreach activities related to recruitment
  • Provide support to HR partners with the preparation and distribution of monthly reports.
  • Provide support with other projects, as needed.
(b) Staff Administration Unit:

  • Provide support to HR Partners with Onboarding and Separation activities;
  • Provide support with review and update of Welcome Guide for new staff;
  • Provide support with the administration and analysis of different surveys;
  • Provide support with the preparation, delivery, and follow up of different communications
(e.g. memos, contracts, official documents, communication to all staff)

  • Provide support to HR partners with the preparation and distribution of monthly reports.
  • Update communication templates (e.g. outlook, brochures);
  • Provide support with special projects, as needed.
(c) Staff Development and Performance Management Unit:

  • Provide assistance by preparing and delivering material;
  • Assist in keeping record of the attendance;
  • Enter monthly training statistics;
  • Support the elearning platform;
  • Verify the availability of rooms;
  • Translate training material into Spanish;
  • Schedule videoconferences;
  • Check audio equipment;
  • Install and check technology for the classes;
  • Assist in examtaking;
  • Write inputs for evaluations and reports concerning training unit activities.
Other duties as required by the HR Section.

Education

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:
(a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or,

(b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).

  • For this internship, studies in the Administration, HR Management, HR Analytics, Data Management or related fields are desirable.
Work Experience

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Spanish is desirable. Knowledge of another UN official language would be an asset.

NOTE:
"Fluency" equals a rating of ''fluent'' in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand) and ̈knowledge of ̈ equals a rating of ''confident'' in two of the four areas.

All costs of travel and accommodation, including living expenses, must be covered by the intern or any relevant sponsoring institution.
