Expense Audit Specialist
- LOCATION
SAN RAMON- Robert Half is seeking an Expense Audit Specialist to be part of the Expense Auditing team. The team is responsible for the timely and accurate disposition of travel expenses within iTRAC. This function entails auditing, evaluating, and verifying data in large volumes. The team assesses the status of open items and issues and communicates with the Protiviti field to resolve issues in order to maintain service level agreements. Knowledge of the Protiviti business model, general accounting, auditing and compliance concepts, and an in-depth understanding of the iTRAC business system is necessary to be effective.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Audits details of expense reports and receipts within iTRAC to verify that expense submission is accurate, authentic and complete-
- Applies knowledge of IRS regulations and corporate policies to ensure compliance with requirements for timeliness, appropriate itemization, eligibility of expenses, expenditure limits, etc.-
- Supports Expense Prior Period Adjustment process and processes final expense reports for termed employees-
- Provides clear and timely information and directions to Protiviti field personnel to resolve discrepancies, errors, missing information, receipts, etc.-
- Develops positive professional relationships with colleagues and field personnel-
- Applies communication skills to facilitate resolution of expense report discrepancies-
- Escalates unresolved issues appropriately-
- Demonstrates a customer service focus, and strives to meet and exceed service level agreements-
- Maintains current knowledge of and adheres to IRS and Sarbanes-Oxley regulations/controls-
- Applies understanding of basic business and accounting concepts to unscripted situations in order to derive solutions to issues-
- Provides requested information for issue identification and resolution.-
- Identifies and recommends business process and system improvement opportunities-
- Participates in and supports planning, testing, and rollout of process improvements and system enhancements-
- Performs other duties or projects as assignedQualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent (such as GED) required. AA degree with accounting coursework preferred.-
- 2+ years relevant experience required-
- Accounting or transactional experience in a high volume environment a plusDemonstrate knowledge of ERP, company policies, procedures, organization and controls, and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements-
