About the role

IES, Orica's cutting-edge cloud-based simulator, is revolutionizing the mining and processing value chain. Our product is experiencing exceptional market growth, and we are expanding our Latin America Digital Solutions to capitalize on this momentum. We're looking for a dynamic IES Business Development Lead to ignite our market expansion and deliver support to our customers.

Role overview: as the IES Business Development Lead, you will be at the forefront of our growth strategy in Latin America. You will engage with mining and engineering clients to understand their needs and showcase how IES can transform their operations. Your role will be pivotal in demonstrating the opportunities with the advanced simulation and optimization capabilities of our platform, addressing complex challenges, and promoting sustainable solutions.

What you will be doing

Business Development Lead


•    Collaborate closely with clients to understand their requirements and provide tailored solutions that optimize their processing value chain.


•    Create and deliver a business plan to grow penetration and revenue of IES, supporting services, and related applications (eg: ModelNet, 'i-Apps', etc.) in the LATAM region 


•    Lead business development and work together with the Latin America Digital Solutions team, the Latin America mining services business, and the LATAM Mining Chemicals business to maximise growth opportunities 


•    Achieve key financial targets including revenue growth, recurring revenue generation, services revenue 

Marketing


•    Preparing marketing collateral with support of Marketing team


•    Making presentations to prospects, customers and industry forums


•    Generation and publication of application and value case studies based on customer implementations


•    Attending conferences to promote IES


•    Building greater awareness of IES in the Latin America region – mining companies, consultants, minerals processing equipment manufacturers and universities

Prospecting & Sales


•    Maintaining an Opportunity pipeline and plan along with a Contacts DB


•    Travel to client sites (where / when possible) for requirements and information gathering


•    Demonstrating the product


•    Draft proposals, scope projects and scopes of work, define KPIs for all IES and related applications proposals. Work with the LATAM team for any bundled proposals, taking ownership of IES and related applications in such proposals. 


•    Finalizing commercial agreements and requesting invoices

Project Support


•    Local customer liaison for implementation projects managed by the IES product team

Product Development


•    Engaging with key customers and industry stakeholders, shape IES and derivative or companion products to grow the use cases, user base and user profiles, expanding beyond planning to operations. 


•    Work with the Brisbane-based IES team for in-depth support and contribute to the broader Orica Digital Solutions function, embracing our innovative culture for cross-technology collaboration

Your qualifications


•    8+ years experience in the mining industry, working for mining companies or mining industry providers.  


•    Technical sales experience in the Mining Industry 


•    Qualifications / industry experience in Extractive Metallurgy or Mineral Processing domain 


•    Experience in the use of simulation software in the mineral processing segment advantageous


•    Passionate about customer needs and technology as an enabler


•    Adept at working collaboratively with diverse teams and across multiple geographies 


•    Skilled in identifying client needs and shaping effective solutions
