About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for processing a designated range of tests and carrying out technical procedures on patient samples using scientific measurements and complex equipment. This includes operating and maintaining complex equipment, as well as participating in training less experienced personnel. Within the pathology department, the individual will receive, store, and discharge deceased patients in the mortuary.

- Hold a minimum HND in Biomedical Sciences or a science degree.
- Experience in laboratory procedures and a commitment to further educational development.
- Attend courses and training sessions on new instrumentation.
- Demonstrate IT skills and ability to work in a mortuary environment, dealing with bereaved relatives.
- Hold a full, valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence.
- Possess a level 4 science qualification (BSc, Foundation degree, or equivalent) or laboratory experience plus a recognised qualification acceptable for entrance for a degree.
- Have experience in working in a NHS Clinical histopathology laboratory and experience in Microtomy, Embedding, Scribing for Consultant Pathologists, and working in a Mortuary Environment.
- Understand Q-Pulse, Health and Safety responsibilities, Confidentiality, IT Healthcare systems, various relevant Health and Safety Legislations, and Data protection legislation.
- Able to demonstrate attention to detail, manual dexterity, communication skills, ability to work independently and prioritise workload, organisation and methodology, and other essential skills.
This is a fixed-term post for 12 months. Full-time hours will be worked, with a 37-hour weekly schedule.
