About the Role

We are seeking a qualified Software Development Instructor to join our team at Ivy Tech Community College. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in software development courses.

As a Software Development Instructor, you will be expected to:

  • Facilitate student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
  • Develop and maintain course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
  • Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
  • Engage with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and lead to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College.
  • Interact with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, comply with College policies, campus guidelines, and expectations.
  • Ensure knowledge of and implement emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs, and all learning environments.


Schedule and Pay

Classes will be held during the day or evening based on the class schedule and enrollment. Pay is $45.50 per contact hour, with pay varying for classes with enrollment of less than 5 students.

Requirements

A qualified faculty member in Software Development (SDEV) meets the program standard through one of four routes:
  • Possesses an earned master's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in software development, computer information systems, management information systems, information technology, computer science, or a computer-related field as appropriate to the program.
  • Possesses an earned related or out-of-field master's degree from a regionally accredited institution with documented 18 semester hours or equivalent of courses beyond the introductory principle(s) level in software development, computer information systems, management information systems, information technology, computer science, or a computer-related field as appropriate to the program.
  • Possesses an earned related or out-of-field master's degree from a regionally accredited institution with documentation in two or more of the following: professional certification (national, regional, or state), two years of in-field professional employment, documented evidence of teaching excellence, documentation of research and publication in the field, documented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor's degree.
  • Possesses an earned bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in software development, computer information systems, management information systems, information technology, computer science, or a computer-related field as appropriate to the program, with documentation in two or more of the following: professional certification (national, regional, or state) in the field, two years of in-field professional employment, documented evidence of teaching excellence, documentation of research and publication in the field, documented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor's degree.
