Join our dynamic global controls team at Servicios Amazon Data Services Chile SpA - G62, where you will collaborate with dedicated professionals and innovators in the data center sector.

Your role will encompass troubleshooting, project oversight, and the maintenance of Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS).

Utilizing Amazon's leadership principles, you will spearhead the development of new processes and standards while driving innovation in the controls domain.

AWS Data Centers consist of various components, including generators, uninterruptible power supplies, diesel generators, electrical switchgear, power distribution units, variable frequency drives, automatic/static transfer switches, chillers (both air-cooled and water-cooled), pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, CRAHs, and air economizers. Each of these components features local control systems that communicate through open and/or proprietary protocols. The BMS serves as the primary control mechanism for all mechanical systems within a data center, while the EPMS is essential for monitoring all electrical systems.



Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide training and support to internal customers and stakeholders in the design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning, and operation of BMS and EPMS systems.
  • Offer technical assistance and support throughout the data center lifecycle.
  • Review maintenance results and action items for BMS and EPMS, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Develop project scopes of work, schedules, budgets, and levels of effort (LOE) for BMS and EPMS projects requested by stakeholders.
  • Oversee the scope, schedule, finances, and execution of BMS and EPMS improvement initiatives in AWS data centers.
  • Assist in procurement activities, including requests for quotations/proposals, responding to requests for information, reviewing vendor proposals, and issuing purchase orders.
  • Participate in the AWS global on-call schedule to provide immediate technical support for BMS and EPMS in operational data centers.
  • Attend project meetings, coordinate with project leaders, and regularly report status to Controls and stakeholder management.
  • Support commissioning activities related to Controls projects in the data centers.
  • Review, implement, troubleshoot, and iterate on the controls sequence of operation (SOO), providing feedback to the design team.
  • Develop and modify control logic programming and graphical user interfaces.
  • Manage multiple stakeholder deliverables and requirements while navigating complex situations.
  • Financially oversee BMS and EPMS service contracts.
  • Conduct frequent visits to assigned operational data centers to troubleshoot, engage with customers, and supervise vendor work to ensure compliance with project scope, design, SOO, and applicable local codes.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering field, along with 5+ years of relevant controls experience, or 10+ years of relevant controls experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 5+ years of experience with industrial controls in critical environments (data centers, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, oil & gas, petrochemical, laboratories, power, water, etc.).
  • 4+ years of general project or vendor management experience related to construction and project execution.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Strong communication skills in English and Spanish, both written and verbal.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally at least 25% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Controls/Automation).
  • Experience in designing, configuring, programming, installing, troubleshooting, or servicing HVAC Controls or Electrical SCADA systems.
  • Familiarity with common industrial communication protocols (MQTT, BACnet, and/or MODBUS).
  • Understanding of engineering documentation, electrical and mechanical diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholder deliverables and navigate challenging situations.
  • Experience in designing data centers or critical MEP infrastructure.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (PE) or certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
  • Prior experience with AWS/Amazon.
  • 4+ years of military service.
