Job Summary

The Ivy Tech Community College is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Part Time Science Lab Technician to join our team. As a Part Time Science Lab Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining the general upkeep of all laboratory facilities and supporting science faculty in setting up and taking down labs.

Key Responsibilities
  • General Laboratory Maintenance: Responsible for cleaning glassware and other equipment, maintaining an orderly and safe laboratory environment, and performing periodic inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Lab Setup and Support: Assist faculty in setting up labs, performing labs, and cleaning up afterwards. Prepare equipment, mix chemicals, and perform other tasks necessary for lab setup as requested by faculty.
  • Inventory and Supply Management: Work with supervisor to maintain supply and order consumable materials, and ensure compliance with OSHA and other applicable regulations.
  • Clerical Work: Perform clerical work associated with laboratory facilities, including completing required paperwork such as timesheets in a timely manner.
  • Lab Safety and Compliance: Follow Ivy Tech Community College policies regarding reporting and management of laboratory accidents, and ensure compliance with laboratory safety procedures and guidelines.
Requirements
  • Experience: Experience in working in a science laboratory setting.
  • Sensitivity and Understanding: Position requires sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of the College students and employees.
