Job Summary:

The Science Laboratory Assistant will provide support to the Science Program Chair and faculty in maintaining laboratory facilities and assisting with lab setup and cleanup. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with experience in laboratory settings.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform general laboratory maintenance, including cleaning equipment and maintaining a safe laboratory environment.
  • Assist faculty in setting up labs, performing experiments, and cleaning up afterwards.
  • Conduct periodic inventory of supplies and equipment, and work with supervisor to maintain stock and order consumable materials.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and other applicable regulations, including proper storage and labeling of chemicals and materials, disposal of waste materials, and laboratory safety procedures.
  • Perform clerical work associated with laboratory facilities, including completing required paperwork.

Requirements:

  • Experience working in a science laboratory setting.
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of college students and employees.
  • Ability to follow Ivy Tech Community College policies and procedures.

Working Conditions:

This is a part-time position, up to 28 hours per week, based on class schedule. The hourly rate is $15.00.
