The Lead Public Policy Strategist will be responsible for crafting, directing, and implementing advocacy strategies and policy initiatives that align with AWS' public policy objectives in the region. This role encompasses critical areas such as privacy, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and sustainability.
The strategist will collaborate with specialists across Amazon's public policy and legal divisions to assess, manage, and coordinate policy matters at both federal and local levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute strategic government relations goals to promote AWS business and policy interests.
- Engage with national and local policymakers, public officials, and relevant stakeholders to foster relationships that support AWS initiatives.
- Work alongside Amazon's public policy teams, business units, public relations, and legal teams to ensure coherence between business strategies and public policy objectives.
This position will report to the Director of AWS Public Policy for the Northern and Southern Latin America region. The role may involve local and international travel.
Basic Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree and an advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., Law, Political Science, Economics, International Relations, Public Policy) are required.
- Over 10 years of experience in government or corporate public policy, ideally within the ICT sector in Chile.
- Proficiency in both English and Spanish, written and spoken, is essential.
Preferred Qualifications:
- In-depth understanding of the policy-making landscape in Chile, including legislative processes and effective advocacy techniques.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all corporate and political levels.
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism within the industry.
- Proactive self-starter capable of translating general direction into specific outcomes.
- Ability to analyze technical aspects of corporate operations in relation to legislative and regulatory proposals.
- Strong critical thinking skills, with the capacity to evaluate data from various sources and recommend actionable strategies.
- Experience in developing thought leadership materials on relevant public policy issues.
