This position is located in ECLAC Headquarters in Santiago de Chile, in the Information and Communications Technologies Section (ICTS). The Information Systems Assistant reports to the head of the User Support Unit. The primary function of the Infrastructure Services Unit is to provide technical support to the staff of the Regional Commission.

**Responsibilities**:
Under the direct supervision of the head of the User Support Unit and the overall guidance of the Chief of ICTS, the Information Technology Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:

- Focal point for the global Help Desk.
- Acts as the local focal point for receipt and processing of user requests.
- Liaises with other areas of ICTS and OICT to facilitate completion of service requests in a timely manner.
- Maintains regular contact with users and technical staff in user offices and provides support as required.
- Conducts research on new technologies as requested; keeps abreast of developments in the field; assists in testing and evaluating new products and technologies.
- Performs other related duties as required.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Work Experience
At least five years of experience in information systems analysis and programming, systems administration and maintenance, software development, technical writing or related area is required.

Proven experience in configuration of desktops, laptops, mobile devices, hardware, and software is required.

Proven experience providing user support is required.

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written Spanish and English is required.

NOTE: ‘Fluency’’ equals a rating of ‘’fluent’’ in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand).
