The Business Unit Commodity Manager oversees all activities for products and services in the assigned Category.

Categories may include wood, adhesive/coatings, and metal accessories/glass This leader optimizes the total cost and total value of the assigned products and services for the business. This position works with internal customers and stakeholders to understand their business needs/objectives, material/category requirements and broader manufacturing processes. The Commodity Manager assists in integrating this understanding of the business’ internal needs and objectives with a strong supply market understanding to help develop the optimal category supply base.

Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Acts as supply management leader for assigned categories, including development and execution of category sourcing strategies to meet customer and business unit objectives.- Manages supply chain by developing and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery, quality, and continuous improvement in supplier performance.- Leads all commercial negotiations with category supply partners. Including development of negotiation plan with some supervision and conducts negotiation within approved negotiation parameters and authority.- Documents commercial terms and drafts contract agreements and amendments- Analyzes supply chain risks and develops contingency plans to mitigate risks, while remaining on the forefront of emerging industry practices.- Tracks supply performance within spend category, including market and cost analysis, issuing RFIs/RFQs/RFPs.- Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion including root cause analysis and plans proposed by suppliers managed.- Identifies, quantifies, and gets business buy-in on cost reduction projects. Execution includes leadership, management and coaching of cross-functional team members through the implementation of cost reduction projects.- Conducts business dealings with the highest level of integrity and regard for legal and environmental issues.

Education- BA/BS Required. MBA or master’s degree in a related field preferred

Experience- 5 - 7 year's minimum of Category / Commodity Management experience in a manufacturing company- Competent PC skills (Excel, Word and Masonite systems, Production Scheduling)- Ability to influence peers and internal customers to achieve mutually beneficial solutions.- Proven track record of delivering cost savings, supplier performance improvement, and supply chain optimization initiatives.- Strong negotiation skills and experience managing supplier contracts.- Ability to lead, mentor, and develop a team of professionals.- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and regions.- Effective communicator, including oral, written and presentation preparation.- Ability to modify work schedules and practices to meet job requirements; requires overnight and international travel.

Certifications/Designations- PMP certification preferred.- APICS certification preferred.
