Senior Advanced Practitioner - Emergency Medicine Join to apply for the Senior Advanced Practitioner - Emergency Medicine role at NHS Ayrshire & Arran . Overview The post holder will work as a senior advanced practitioner responsible for providing advanced clinical care and management of both stable and acutely unwell patients and their families, making complex, autonomous decisions using advanced skills and knowledge. They will have overall responsibility for the assessment of care needs and the delivery of advanced care. The post holder will be an experienced clinician, who, acting within their professional boundaries, will provide care for the presenting patient from initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of their care. The senior advanced practitioner must demonstrate competence within all four pillars of advanced practice and make professional, autonomous decisions for which they are accountable. The post holder will provide the assessment, examination, diagnosis, management and treatment initiation to a range of adults and/or children. Responsibilities Lead clinical assessment, diagnosis, management and treatment initiation for adults and/or children in the Emergency Department. Provide leadership and teaching for AHP, nursing and medical staff; coordinate multi-professional team input and refer to colleagues as appropriate. Demonstrate critical thinking and safe, competent clinical decision-making; work within HCPC/NMC/GPHC requirements for advanced practice. Provide direct patient management in collaboration with departmental consultants / General Practitioners. Contribute to quality improvement, training needs assessment and resource management as part of the role. Ensure knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards; maintain professional registrations and provide specialist education and training to staff and students. Qualifications and Requirements Registered Nurse / AHP or Pharmacist with valid NMC/HCPC/GPhC registration. Postgraduate Diploma (Masters) in Advanced Practice with evidence of completing the final module/dissertation or near-completion. Independent prescriber. Demonstrated knowledge of NHS Scotland leadership qualities framework or equivalent. Experience in facilitating learning and teaching; leadership and managerial experience within the specialty. Extensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and data-driven needs assessment; experience in resource management (financial, human, and capital). Interpretation of related data and needs assessment experience. Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
