Overview Senior Advanced Practitioner - Emergency Medicine role with NHS Scotland. The post holder will work as a senior advanced practitioner responsible for providing advanced clinical care and management of both stable and acutely unwell patients and their families, making complex, autonomous decisions using advanced skills and knowledge. The post holder will have overall responsibility for the assessment of care needs and the delivery of advanced care. They will be an experienced clinician, who, acting within their professional boundaries, will provide care for the presenting patient from initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of their care. The senior advanced practitioner must demonstrate competence within all four pillars of advanced practice and make professional, autonomous decisions for which they are accountable. Responsibilities Provide assessment, examination, diagnosis, management and treatment initiation to a range of adults and/or children. Offer leadership, teaching, and clinical support to AHP, nursing and junior medical staff; coordinate the contribution of the multi-professional team. Deliver specialist education, training to nurses, AHPs, students and junior medical staff. Demonstrate critical thinking and safe, competent clinical decision-making skills; meet HCPC/NMC/GPhC requirements for advanced practice. Provide direct patient management in collaboration and consultation with departmental consultants and General Practitioners. What we’ll need you to bring Registered Nurse / AHP or Pharmacist with a valid NMC/HCPC/GPhC registration. Postgraduate Diploma (Masters) in Advanced Practice with evidence of finalising Masters Degree (e.g., completing the final module or dissertation). Independent prescriber. Knowledge of NHS Scotland leadership qualities framework or equivalent. Management knowledge from experience and continuous professional development. Evidence of facilitating learning and teaching. Professional, leadership and managerial experience in the specialty/area of practice. Extensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within areas of expertise. Experience in assessing training needs and in resource management (financial, human, and capital). Knowledge and experience of needs assessment and data interpretation. Note: For all vacancies where a driving licence is required, a full UK/EU/EEA licence is required.
