Overview Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists. An MSc in Biomedical Science or Fellowship of the Institute of Biomedical Science is required, as well as significant post-registration experience in a Haematology/Coagulation laboratory. Responsibilities Manage and coordinate day-to-day technical activities of a section(s) of the department, and provide first-line supervision of the BMS and CSW team. Ensure standards and quality of performance of the section(s), including instrument problem solving and troubleshooting, and processing a broad range of specialist and routine laboratory diagnostic investigations. Facilities and equipment This is an excellent opportunity to work in a modern facility with state of the art equipment. Transfusion has Griffols platforms and Haematology and Coagulation are equipped with Sysmex analysers integrated to Roche pre-analytics and track. Working hours Working hours are 37 per week on average and may include evenings, weekends and overnight working when required. Accreditation and development The department is UKAS accredited to ISO 15189 and IBMS approved for Biomedical Scientist training. Active participation in CPD and opportunities for further study are supported and encouraged. Part-time hours will be reduced pro-rata, with a corresponding increase in hourly rate so that pay is not affected.
