Qualifications and Experience
Degree and teaching certification that covers Mathematics for Grades 6-8- A minimum of 2 years of relevant teaching experience

  • Experience teaching mathematics conceptually in a problembased curriculum
  • Experience teaching and assessing the Common Core math content standards and the
  • Standards for Mathematical Practice
  • Experience developing curriculum using the Understanding by Design framework
  • Experience in a multicultural school environment
  • Fluency in English

Skills
Ability to connect with Middle School-aged children and have an understanding of their
- developmental needs
  • Ability to differentiate instruction in a class with diverse learning needs
  • Ability to create an engaging and active learning environment in a studentcentered

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Use the school's guiding statements to determine appropriate learning objectives for the
- class
  • Create a positive, inclusive learning environment where all students feel safe and cared

- for
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress and achievement in relation to learning objectives
  • Teach in accordance with the math department's adopted beliefs and best practices
  • Collaborate with colleagues towards creating authentic learning experiences for students
- (transfer learning into real life situations where possible)
  • Collaborate with the teaching team and with a teaching partner
  • Design intervention learning experiences for schoolwide student support program
  • Serve as a middle school advisor
  • Contribute to the school community outside of the classroom e.g., afterschool activities,
