**Purpose of the position**:
To ensure that all students at Nido, regardless of their educational, physical or behavioral needs, are
able to access and benefit from learning opportunities in the classroom and around the school.
This role partners with the Director of Student Support Services, the divisional Heads of Department,
and works closely with Principals, Assistant Principals, Counselors and Teachers and other key
members of the Nido community.
planning and delivering of lessons, developing Individualized Learning Plans, assessing students’
progress, providing individualized support and supporting general education teachers with
strategies to address academic, behavioral needs.
**Preferred Qualifications and Experiences**
Teaching certification in Special Education, English as an Additional Language or related area
- required- Masters in Special Education, English as an Additional Language or related field preferred
- Two or more years of teaching experience in special education/student with exceptional
needs (SEN), required
- Experience as a general education teacher, preferred
- Experience working with students in an inclusive environment
- Demonstrated ability to create inclusive environments and communities for learners with a
- broad range of needs- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with teachers, leaders, parents and other school
- community members- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Willingness to grow professionally
- Strong proficiency in written and spoken English required
- Strong proficiency in written and spoken Spanish, preferred
- Proficiency in use of technology for multiple purposes
**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
Coordinate and align the the Student of Conversation (SOC) and Student Success Team (SST)
- processes PK-12- Serve as a resource to teachers, parents and others regarding the provision of an inclusive
- learning and teaching environment- Collaborate with teachers, parents and other school personnel around providing inclusive
- learning experiences- Coordinate individualized support plans for students with extraordinary needs as needed
- Monitor and assess student progress at a whole school and divisional level
- Develop and deliver professional development for teachers and parents, particularly in the
- areas of Autism, ADHD, dysregulation, and learning disabilities- Lead model lessons that support the needs of all learners (UDL)
- Positively contribute to the the Nido Social Emotional Learning (SEL) initiatives
- Participate as a member of the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) Steering
- Committee- Support the implementation of the Ley Inclusion Escolar: School Inclusion Law: Ley N° 20.845
- Law 21544- Collaborate with the School Community Life (SCL) Coordinator
- Other duties as assigned
