Due to an internal secondment, an exciting opportunity now exists for a proven international Business Development Manager (BDM), who is passionate about coaching and guiding businesses and has experience in consulting and/or selling technology solutions to join our Chile team, with the main focus being on the tech and retail sectors.

  • In this role, you will be responsible for working with and supporting New Zealand businesses to develop and execute their business growth plans by; providing insight on the realities of the market, developing solutions that meet our customers' ambitions, identifying and providing strategic introductions, identifying potential inmarket partners, helping develop new channels to market and building growth opportunities. You will provide strategic and tactical support to your customer portfolio. Building new relationships and networks comes naturally to you and you will have welldeveloped listening, influencing and communication skill. You will have a growth mindset, "can do" and proactive attitude and be motivated to use initiative to problem solve and get things done for our clients.


You will proactively leverage your existing commercial relationships in Chile, and develop networks within the retail, consumer goods, medical and education technology sectors locally to assist our customers entering the market with the aim of converting opportunities into value.

You will actively manage a portfolio of customers in Chile, enabling your customers to establish or grow their presence in market, building strong relationships with third party partners will be critical.

Alongside the talented collaborative NZTE team, you will build a plan with your customers to help them succeed in Chile including assisting with defining objectives and actions further delivering exceptional results.


You will also play a key role in evaluating the strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for our customers in comparison to their competitors, and then assist them in shaping and reshaping their strategies and business models to help them succeed.


There will also be opportunities to work as part of our wider Latin America (LATAM) team by getting involved in projects that will see you work across and with different regional offices.


What you'll need to be successful | Ō Pūkenga

  • You will have a solid understanding of the challenges of growing a successful international business in Chile and will know how to use your consulting skills to coach and advise your portfolio of customers to successfully navigate those challenges. You will be highly versed in a range of trade and economic issues with solid experience across a variety of business disciplines such as business consulting, sales, marketing, account management, project management through multiple roles in your career.

Ideally you will also bring:

  • 5+ years' experience in a commercial role where you have partnered with a portfolio of companies to support their growth.
  • An existing tech network and talent for identifying channel and partnership opportunities, including having a deep understanding of the techecosystem and tech innovation processes
  • Experience in building gotomarket (GTM) strategies, marketing, business consulting or enterprise sales.
  • Superior communication, business consulting, and relationship management skills with the ability to build rapport quickly across multiple levels.
  • A team player, who is comfortable with ambiguity and an adaptable approach to hybrid working.


This will be a fast-paced and varied role; your impressive aptitude for success and impeccable time management skills will mean you are a "possibility thinker" and know how to take the right course of action.


Fluency in both English and Spanish, ideally with a tertiary business qualification and it would be advantageous if you have experience in project management.

It is also advantageous if you have some understanding of New Zealand's business ecosystem.
