An exciting opportunity has arisen for an innovative and dynamic experienced Registered Nurse to support the leadership of the nursing team within Ward 34 at Victoria Hospital. This unit provides inpatient and Outpatient Haematology/Oncology care and accepts direct admissions from home as well as Acute Admissions and the Emergency Department. It is a 16 bedded unit which works closely with the Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) Unit and the Haematology Supportive Care Unit.
As a Senior Charge Nurse, you will be committed to continuous professional development and possess strong communication and organisational skills with the ability to apply these effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced, high turnover ward environment.
As an experienced leader, you will provide strong clinical, theoretical and practical leadership to the nursing team, whilst promoting a collaborative partnership with multi-disciplinary colleagues both within and out with the unit. You will provide a high standard of nursing care and be able to demonstrate that you can deliver change through effective visible clinical leadership.
Candidates will have Band 6 Charge Nurse experience, experience within Acute Medicine and whilst experience in Haematology/Oncology nursing is desirable it is not essential. They will be able to evidence their ability to inspire and motivate the team and have a passion for providing safe, highly effective, person centred care. There is an expectation if the appointed candidate does not have SACT experience, they undertake SACT training and UKONS Passport through links with NHS Lothian.
As a Senior Charge Nurse, you should also manage and develop the performance of the dedicated nursing team and contribute to the delivery of NHS Fife’s organisational objectives.
This role is pivotal in raising clinical standards of care for patients and managing local and national agendas and as such, you will work very closely with the Clinical Nurse Manager to deliver the key aspects of these agendas. You will also contribute to the wider Acute Services Medical Directorate by supporting with the Duty Charge Nurse role out of hours.
The post is 1.0 WTE funded establishment and the post is predominantly worked over 4 weekdays. There is also a requirement for weekend day working to cover the duty charge nurse shift for the directorate or provide leadership to the unit.
For informal enquiries contact Angela Glancey, Clinical Nurse Manager on 01592 643355 ext 20099 or email to angela.glancey2@nhs.scot
