Legal Counsel, Commercial Transactions

We are currently searching for a Legal Counsel to join our Americas Commercial Transactions team in Chile or in Peru.

**What you will be doing**
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex business customer contracts (such as agreements, amendments, purchase orders, etc.) and non-business contracts with a special focus on business clients in Chile, Peru, Mexico and other possible Latin American countries, where applicable
- Lead complex negotiations with customers and business leaders in combination with other legal counsel and business units
- Collaborate with, mentor and guide junior lawyers and non-lawyers on deals
- Provide legal advice to Equinix team, business and sales leaders and the legal and regulatory environment that surrounds the applicable business type
- Directly work with our product managers and emerging services team to review new products, features, and other new uses of data to ensure compliance with applicable data protection laws and industry practice
- Must handle any other customer contract related issues as may arise or be assigned or as part of a One Legal project
- Provide assistance and guidance to Contracts Managers on contracts, related drafting and negotiation strategies as requested by individuals or a team leader
- Advise on current legal matters and developments with the law, especially applicable laws in Chile and Peru
- Assist with commercial insurance, compliance issues and loss control in Latin America
- Conducts preliminary due diligence related to customer agreements in any M&A transactions
- Provide general legal support to Equinix’s data center operations department
- Performs miscellaneous duties, as instructed by the Sr Director or Director of the Americas Commercial Transactions team

**What you should have**
- Qualified to practice law in the countries of Peru or Chile (both countries is preferred)
- Business level Spanish and English fluency is a specific and critical requirement of this position; Portuguese is a plus
- Relevant legal experience at a global law firm, and/or as a corporate counsel at a technology company is required
- Substantial consumer or business to business product experience from initiation to launch
- Must possess and practice a very strong sense of teamwork and cross-functional collaboration
- Must be able to communicate effectively in Spanish and in English with executive level employees both verbally and in writing
- Reflect a history of direct experience in managing complex projects and deals
- Excellent legal drafting and contract interpretation skills
- Excellent problem solving, analytical and organizational skills
