**About the Role**:
This role requires technical expertise in the management of project/program strategies, standards, and frameworks, to lead the development of the selection and definition phase studies for a safe and efficient transfer to execution. To succeed in this role the Principal Studies needs to ensure all interfaces with Operations, Maintenance, Production, MCOE, and Projects functions are aligned and integrated in accordance with BHP Value Charter, Our Requirements, and MinAm Projects strategies. This role will report directly to the Manager Studies of the Processing Leaching Pillar. It is based in Santiago with flexible work arrangements and requires site travel upon project’s needs.

Among the main accountabilities are:

- Live the purpose of the BHP Projects team: “We deliver the sustainable future”;
- Establish a culture of transparency within the team where giving and receiving constant feedback is a primary value;
- Lead the development of the Selection Phase Study (SPS) and Definition Phase Study (DPS) according to Our Requirements for Capital projects;
- Actively participates in early stages of project study phases (Identification Phase Study) in order to assure a smooth transition of the project into SPS;
- Lead the planning and monitoring of SPS and DPS activities that allow the continuity of the project according to what was committed in the Study Work Plan (SWP);
- Lead the coordination between functions and the Asset to carry out field activities, complying with safety standards, requirements, budget, scope and schedule of the study;
- Identify, involve and manage key internal and external interest groups throughout the study phase of the project;
- Get to know your client, be committed to maintaining constant communication of the project status along with the challenges encountered, establishing direction and context, mitigation plans and priorities through timely and effective communication;
- Lead the efficient hand over of the project into the delivery team to progress with the execution phase.
- Lead the bidding processes for drilling, ore characterization, engineering and construction services (preparation of technical packages, technical evaluation, among others);
- Lead the workshops required during the study phase (risks, lessons learned, maintenance, operability, constructability, NEQI and HAZOP, among others);
- Implement global and local initiatives to improve health, safety and environmental performance, including FEL, Sustainability in Design (SiD), and Fied Lidership Program (FLP); and
- Actively collaborate in the implementation of BOS practices.

**About You**:

- Proven experience leading high investment and complex projects, managing multiple stakeholders (functions and Asset), desirable experience in the Selection (SPS) and Definition (DPS) study phases;
- Professional degree in Engineering;
- Senior mastering or certification Project Management is desirable;
- Communication skills with high organizational levels and the Assets;
- Ability to expose and recognize key project information, communicating it in a clear and timely manner, enabling decision-making on time and at the corresponding level; and
- Desirable Fluency in English - verbal and written.
