**About the Role**

The head of Permits is responsible of leading the permit strategy and major permit delivery within Minerals Americas. Ensures successful planning, execution and timely delivery in collaboration with the Asset and Functions. Oversees a team of professionals engaged in developing, implementing and improving systems, tools, processes and procedures that assist the Minerals Americas business to manage major permitting related activities and risks aligned with Master Growth plan for Minerals Americas. Assist the Business to comply with permitting regulations and corporate requirements and engage constructively with internal and external stakeholders to enhance the company’s reputation.

In this role you will:

- Lead development and delivery of major permitting (environmental and sectorial) strategy within MinAms to ensure high performance in permit management working closely with APs, GMs, HSE BPs and other functions.
- Lead improved performance, with line leadership, across the disciplines of major permitting (sectorial and environmental)
- Identify priority-permits improvements and create alignment with five Year Plan delivery and Master Growth Plan.
- Liaise with external and internal stakeholders to advocate Minerals Americas business needs across the disciplines of major permitting.
- Support Corporate Affairs to create public policy statements and represent BHP policy positions in external engagements with Government agencies, Non-Government Organizations and sustainable investors
- Network with internal and external peers, including industry associations, to identify and leverage leading Permitting practices and lessons learned
- Lead, manage and develop the Major Permit team to ensure efficient delivery of program of work in permits space.
- Manage the maintenance and improvement of Major Permits related content within the Minerals Americas HSE Controls Framework

**About You**
- Possess a tertiary qualifications in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or other relevant discipline
- 10+ years’ experience in managing environmental and sectorial stewardship and regulatory compliance programs (preferably within mining, natural resource or other heavy industrial industry)
- Proven track record in managing major environmental permitting processes in a mining environment
- At least 5 years’ experience as a people leader / manager in large organizations
- Experience working in a multi-culture, international environment.
- Strong leadership skills to engage, communicate and influence senior leaders and a team of senior technical experts
- Robust strategic planning, analytical and organizational skills
- Effective collaboration and interpersonal skills
- Ability to foster effective external relationships across industry groups, NGO’s and investors
- Demonstrated project management
