Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO&I, the Datacenter Engineering (DCE) team is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. We are looking for a passionate, high-energy individual to help build the cloud datacenters that power the world’s largest online services.

**Responsibilities**:
The Datacenter Engineering Design Manager will manage the engineering scope, schedule, and budget for greenfield, brownfield and retrofit engineering / design projects. This position will manage internal and external resources for the delivery of the Datacenter building, power, cooling, telecom, and controls infrastructure to align with Microsoft Corporation datacenter capacity roadmap for the Americas, with a strong focus on Canada.

**Core Responsibilities**:

- Coordinate a team of architects, engineers and designers and deliver projects aligned with the defined scope, schedule, and budget.
- Have excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
- Possess a high level of proficiency in commercial and industrial architecture and engineering with a primary focus on datacenter design.
- Must be able to work with other technical and non-technical groups in a fast-paced environment and do so with an even temperament.
- Must be a person of integrity, be methodical, detailed-oriented with a strong work ethic.

**Qualifications**:
**Basic Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s and master’s degrees in architecture, Engineering, Business or related field.
- Technical understanding of mission critical environments
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to lead team of architects and engineers in advanced engineering and operational processes and procedures as they relate to large data center environments.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in engineering, equipment and/or construction for mission critical or hi-tech industry
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as project or team manager

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
