**About the Role**:
This role provides an exciting opportunity to provide HSE leadership and support to the Metals Exploration (MEX) South America team. Reporting to the Manager Health, Safety and Environment for Metals Exploration, you will lead a small team of HSE Professionals supporting operational exploration activities across Chile, Peru, Ecuador and Colombia. You will be fundamental in supporting regional generative and commercial activities through the provision of technical HSE advice and support of the MEX growth agenda.

You will provide leadership and direction in the delivery of HSE fundamentals and

strategic improvement initiatives for MEX South America and be at the forefront of the developing regional approach and ensuring that HSE systems, processes and resourcing aligns with regional needs.

Based in either Santiago, Chile or Lima, Peru regular travel within South America will be required to enable effective relationships with your team and customers. You will have the opportunity to build capability and capacity within HSE through the development, coaching and alignment of country-based HSE team members to deliver excellence in HSE services.

In this role you will:

- Develop and lead a strong capable team across the region to deliver effective HSE services to your customers
- Establish effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Define and drive effectiveness and standardisation of processes in partnership with your peers across the Metals Exploration;
- Support development and implementation of the MEX HSE Strategy and plan at a Regional and Country level in collaboration with Operational and Functional partners;
- Support regional generative and commercial activities, providing technical HSE input into opportunity assessment and ongoing assurance of third party ventures
- Support regional growth through engagement with pipeline development, identifying key HSE needs to support growth
- Support the delivery of MEX and Global HSE Strategy and key MEX HSE priorities;
- Build HSE capability and capacity within the Regional team through coaching, mentoring and the provision of advice on HSE strategy, system and procedures;

**About You**:

- You will be an experienced people leader with a minimum 5 to 7 years’ experience leading a diverse team in exploration, mining or similar resources industry, with a passion for developing others through coaching, mentoring, rewarding and guiding.
- You will have strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills with a demonstrated capability to negotiate and influence internal and external stakeholders, including regulators and community groups.
- Your well developed and professional technical expertise will stem from an influenced practice in the HSE area with a minimum 5 years of experience and a supporting tertiary degree in a health, safety, environment or related field.
- You will have detailed knowledge of key concepts, theories and practices related to effective management of HSE related risks.
- Experience in working in the South American region and basic English language skills are essential.
