QB2 is an open pit operation which leaches the ore to produce copper cathodes via processing in an SX-EW plant. It is located in the Tarapaca Region, at an altitude of 4,400 meters above sea level and approximately 240 kilometers southeast of the city of Iquique.

Project considers the construction of a concentrator plant near the mine; a tailings deposit; a pipeline for the transportation of copper concentrate; a desalination plant supplying sea water - which will be sent by an aqueduct to the concentrator and facilities for the reception, filtering and shipment of the concentrate in the Patache Norte sector, south of Iquique.

**SUMMARY**:
Participates in the implementation of the quality program/plans. Functions on a project assignment either in a permanent or project office or at a construction or plant site. Participates in a staff function either in quality program development/implementation/maintenance or in a management capacity.

**ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES**:
1. Implements the quality program/plans for a project at an assigned location.

2. Ensures timely and effective implementation of project quality program/plans.

3. Assigns work to and directs the activities of assigned quality personnel, including conducting performance evaluations for assigned personnel.

4. Directs the implementation of the project monitoring/auditing program at the assigned construction or plant site or project office location.

5. Prepares and completes quality audit checklists and participates in audits.

6. Provides recommendations to project personnel to correct quality deficiencies.

7. Represents the project during audits by management, the client and regulatory agencies as requested by the quality manager.

8. Identifies and reports conditions that require corrective action by management and follows up to ensure completion.

9. Initiates stop work when authorized.

10. Follows up on actions taken in response to audit findings to ensure adequate close out.

11. Provides on-the-job training for assigned quality personnel.

12. Prepares quality procedures for review, approval and issuance in accordance with client and company requirements.

13. Prepares revisions/amendments for the project quality program/plan for review, approval and issuance.

14. Reviews quality related procedures and manuals developed by other departments, suppliers and subcontractors for conformance to project quality program/plan requirements.

15. Reviews and reports on the impact of new or revised regulatory requirements on the project quality program/plan.

16. Reviews selected project/functional documents/procedures to ensure the inclusion of applicable quality requirements.

17. Reviews project system documentation packages for completion prior to system turnover to the client.

18. Monitors adherence to the established project quality budget as directed.

19. Performs supplier/subcontractor qualification surveys, reviews requests for proposals, evaluates bid documents, reviews supplier/subcontractor quality programs, and performs source inspections, surveillances and quality audits.

**JOB KNOWLEDGE**:

- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and functions which impact the quality program/plans.
- Proficiency in oral and written communication.
- Proficiency in providing supervision and on the job training to assigned personnel.

This knowledge is normally acquired through one or a combination of the following:

- a recognized degree in an engineering or scientific discipline, or
- specialized courses in engineering, quality, personnel administration or a specialized discipline, and
- practical work experience in fields of engineering, environmental science, procurement, construction, testing, operations, decommissioning, business administration, or work experience as a quality engineer or equivalent.
