**Responsibilities will include (but not limited to)**:
- Prepares reports and makes recommendations on technical issues.
- Train new team members
- Plans, schedule or supervise work of a small crew.
- Refers to established standards and policies with broadly defined objectives.
- Plans and carries out assignments using initiative in adapting procedures to solve difficult technical problems or in developing new procedures.
- Assemble products & prototypes using hand tools.
- Carry out end of line testing on products as well as development testing on prototypes.
- Contribute to product design and manufacturability improvements.
- Establish work control systems to ensure standards of performance, quality, cost and safety are met.
- Modify and/or fabricate mechanical parts and electrical harnesses.
- Specify and procure tools and instrumentation as required.
**Qualifications**:
- Technologist diploma in mechanical, electrical or relevant discipline and a minimum of 3 years of related experience in a product development, manufacturing or servicing environment.
- Proven leadership experience
- Ability to solve problem with good organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Commitment and enthusiasm for continuous learning
- Accountable for results of the tasks performed
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Willingness to accept constructive ideas and provide assistance to other team members
- Demonstrated mechanical and electrical assembly capability.
- Hands on fabrication and maintenance capability.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical part and assembly drawings.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and systems.
- Able to identify and use basic hand tools and multimeters.
- Proficient in using a PC for running tests, reporting and recording results.
- Must be able to work with demanding deadlines and changing priorities.
- Able to operate a sit down counterbalanced forklift.
- Able to lift heavy objects.
**Nice to have’s**:
- Experience in quality control systems.
- Ability to use a vertical milling machine and weld using the SMAW process.
- Able to use SolidWorks or other industry-recognized computer assisted design/drafting software.
- Experience with PLC programming or other software programming or scripting languages.
- Able to use data acquisition systems and environment chambers.
- Experience designing tests, instrumenting test object and executing tests.
- Experience in the field of mining.
