The Role

University Hospital Hairmyres are seeking a Clinical Support Worker to work in their fast paced MRU/FAU area. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will carry out care duties for patients, in support of a registered nurse, and will regularly work unsupervised. You will carry out assigned duties to maintain hygiene, order and safety within the ward environment.

Duties may vary with the type of ward/department and the degree of patient dependency.

What we'll need you to bring

  • SVQ III in healthcare, or working towards, or equivalent experience working within a caring environment/role
  • Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary/agency team
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to carry out assigned patient care tasks effectively within a busy environment
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • To actively participate in the Personal Development Plan process to fulfil the requirements of continuing professional development
  • Working knowledge of basic information technology
  • NHSL rotational contract, ability to work day and night shift, 12 hour shifts, 7 days per week

Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.

It would be great if you also have

  • Previous patient contact and care in acute setting
  • Previous experience within emergency care (ED, MAU or AMRU)
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Best Practice Guidelines/ statements
  • Competent in Venepuncture, Cannulation, ECG Recording
  • Effective listening, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Effective documentation skills

Location and Working Pattern

This role will be based in MAU/FAU within University Hospital Hairmyres

The working pattern for this role is: Rotational, day and night shift, 12 hour shifts, 7 days per week
