Job Overview

:

In this position, you will perform field assessments and engage with clients to ascertain the scope of work and cost estimates for the mechanical components of various projects. You will oversee the design, development, modification, and evaluation of mechanical systems and processes. Your insights will address technical challenges and ensure that the intricate and specific requirements of a project's mechanical elements are fulfilled.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designing mechanical systems and material handling equipment for projects in the mining sector, including but not limited to crushers, conveyors, pumps (for water and slurry distribution), stockpiles, and grinding circuits (a mandatory requirement).
  • Conducting calculations and analyses that lead to informed technical design recommendations.
  • Creating material requisitions, specifications, data sheets, and other procurement-related documentation.
  • Leading and assisting in vendor assessments and technical bid evaluations.
  • Collaborating with mechanical designers to generate designs and drawings that adhere to project standards.
  • Working alongside P&ID mechanical designers to produce compliant drawings.
  • Coordinating efforts and collaborating with other engineering disciplines and departments within the organization. This includes aligning mechanical engineering tasks with specialized groups, engineering disciplines, clients, suppliers, contractors, construction teams, and other functional units.
  • Developing conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals.
  • Offering technical support to other mechanical staff and engaging with project functions and clients to resolve complex regulatory challenges and adhere to industry codes and standards.
  • Assisting project and construction management in identifying and fulfilling mechanical requirements and addressing issues that may arise during project execution.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering is required, along with a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in the mining industry.

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • Familiarity with material handling equipment utilized in mining projects (mandatory).
  • Expertise in the development and analysis of water and slurry network calculations.
  • Knowledge of calculations for air networks, HVAC systems, tanks, and fire protection systems (desirable).
  • Proficiency in BeltAnalyst software is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Intermediate proficiency in spoken English.
  • Able to work flexibly and enthusiastically in both individual and team settings.
  • Demonstrated ability in both oral and written communication.
