Position Overview
We are seeking an Indirect Tax Supervisor to lead and support our Indirect Tax Team in Chile. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of US indirect tax regulations, demonstrate self-motivation, and be committed to efficient problem-solving. This role requires setting a high standard for integrity and professionalism while collaborating with a diverse team.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the Chile tax team and manage the company's indirect tax obligations, including sales, use, accommodation, hotel/motel, transient occupancy, room, and gross receipts taxes.
- Ensure the team adheres to deadlines through effective management of workflows.
- Monitor and assist with team inquiries, emails, and notices.
- Enhance the efficiency of tax processes and controls through technological advancements.
- Conduct research on tax concepts and apply findings to tax filings and procedures.
- Evaluate hospitality filings to guarantee accuracy and completeness.
- Review and guide the work of tax accountants on complex and intermediate tasks.
- Ensure compliance with SOX controls, team protocols, and company policies.
- Establish team objectives and performance metrics.
- Conduct weekly meetings with team members to mentor and support their career development.
- Assist with various business initiatives to promote growth and ensure indirect tax compliance.
- Provide education and training to team members on various indirect tax topics.
- Undertake additional administrative tasks and projects as required.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience in travel or a related industry is preferred.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is mandatory.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant tax experience.
- Prior experience with US tax regulations or in public accounting is essential.
- Strong grasp of indirect tax principles.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity effectively.
- Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail.
- Driven by deadlines.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and communication skills.
- Proficient in Excel and Google Workspace applications.
- Adaptable and responsive to change.
