Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our Core Services engineering team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for building and managing several tools and services that our Product Engineering teams rely on to deliver Checkr's products and features. You will work closely with other engineering teams to help them implement best practices in their services.

Responsibilities
  • Design, build, ship, and maintain the core software libraries, tools, and patterns used by all of Checkr's engineering teams.
  • Partner with product, design, and other stakeholders in designing new features.
  • Collaborate with other engineers in architecting and implementing new features.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve our products.
  • Deliver performant, reliable, scalable, and secure code.
  • Monitor, investigate, triage, and resolve production issues as they arise for services owned by the team.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of full-stack software development experience.
  • Proficiency in Ruby or a similar programming language.
  • Experience managing an API Gateway like Kong.
  • Experience with Kafka or similar event-streaming platforms.
  • Experience with user authentication using Auth0 or similar authentication platforms.
  • Solid understanding of Computer Science fundamentals such as relational databases, data structures and algorithms, Object Relational Mapping, REST APIs, microservices, etc.
  • Strong sense of ownership.
  • Ability to collaborate with teammates and other stakeholders.
  • An eagerness to learn, collaborate, improve, and innovate.

At Checkr, we believe a hybrid work environment strengthens collaboration, drives innovation, and encourages connection. Our hub locations are Denver, CO, San Francisco, CA, and Santiago, Chile. Individuals are expected to work from the office 2 to 3 days a week. In-office perks are provided, such as lunch four times a week, a commuter stipend, and an abundance of snacks and beverages.
