About the Role

The Principal Commissioning Manager will lead a portfolio of work designed to support our current and future project execution activities in Minerals Americas. This role requires a strong background in Commissioning activities, project delivery, and demonstrated leadership in strategic planning and execution of these activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support HSE Performance: Proactively lead and apply BHP's risk management framework to build a risk-aware culture, ensuring safe and productive performance outcomes.
  • Develop and Maintain Commissioning Strategy: Lead and facilitate the development and maintenance of Commissioning strategy, standards, processes, and plans for major capital projects.
  • Capital Optimization: Support the development and execution of a capital optimization program, identifying improvement initiatives to increase capital efficiency and productivity within the commissioning program.
  • Commissioning Expertise: Provide commissioning expertise and coordinate resources deployed into a study team for the development of commissioning-related deliverables, including plans, processes, and procedures.
  • Single Point of Contact: Act as a single point of contact for the Project or Study manager for all commissioning deliverables and inputs.
  • Coordinate Commissioning Methodologies: Coordinate the execution of commissioning methodologies, strategies, and plans in accordance with program/project systems and standards.
  • Data Analytics: Support and conduct data-analytics on all aspects of commissioning execution, optimization, and improvement projects.
  • Value Creation: Lead value creation through the application of continuous improvement techniques to program standards and procedures.
  • Resource Management: Monitor planned, actual, and forecast resource levels to support project execution.
  • Risk and Quality Management: Coordinate the execution of risk and quality management plans to assure effective management of the project's commissioning scope of work.
  • Value Improvement: Provide expertise as input to value improvement practices, such as integrated planning, in partnership with project functions, including engineering, operations readiness, procurement, and project controls and analysis.
  • Network and Influence: Maintain a wide network of influence and integrate functions, operations, and regions.
  • Strategic Objectives: Strive to achieve 100% safety, 100% customer value, and 0% waste.
About You

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commissioning professional to join our team. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Relevant Commissioning Experience: A strong background in commissioning activities, project delivery, and demonstrated leadership in strategic planning and execution of these activities.
  • Education and Certifications: A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Process) or equivalent combinations of education and experience.
  • Language Skills: Bilingual (Spanish-English) written and spoken, desirable.
  • Industry Experience: Relevant commissioning experience in mining major projects, with special emphasis on Copper Concentrator, Leaching, Tailings, and Mining/Material handling related projects or program environment at a Contractor and EP+C/EPCM level.
  • Leadership and Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to engage, influence, and build solid working relationships with stakeholders, peers, vendors, fabricators, engineering, construction, and commissioning contractor.

Job location: Santiago, with travels to our operations according to the project stage. Modality of shift: 5x2. Exclusive mandatory requirements: Availability to change location and shift according to the project stage.
