This position will be temporarily vacant for a period of nine months. This position is located in the Division for Gender Affairs. The Research Assistant reports to the Senior Social Affairs Officer.

**Responsibilities**:
Under the overall supervision of the Senior Social Affairs Officer, the Research Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:

- Researches, extracts and compiles basic information and technical data on specific programmes/projects on women autonomy and gender equality.
- Assembles original statistical material; adjusts reported data from different sources and load data into computerized database system.
- Assists in the evaluation and examination of laws and normative on care for accuracy, clarity and validity.
- Assists in the maintenance and upload the regularions repository of the Gender Equality Observatory ( care related policies and laws).
- Prepares a variety of reports, presentations, tables, lists, graphs, charts and/or diagrams for information and review by senior officers.
- Prepares abstracts/bibliographic descriptions for inclusion in documents, articles, books and publications.
- Reviews, stores, classifies, and maintains relevant computerized databases on gender issues.
- Takes notes and drafts executive summaries of meetings.
- Collects organizes and disseminates relevant UN and media information.
- Assists in the coordination and set up of press briefings, press statements, pamphlets or other public awareness campaigns to educate public on any specific issue.
- Performs other related work as required.
- Assists with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making.
- Assists with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Work Experience
At least three (3) years of experience in collecting and researching across various areas of social and economic development and gender issues or related area is required.

Experience with countries of Latin America and the Caribbean is desirable.

One (1) year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position fluency in English and Spanish (both spoken and written) is required.

NOTE: ‘Fluency’’ equals a rating of ‘’fluent’’ in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand)
