Overview
The AES Corporation, a global leader in renewable energy, is hiring a Substation Senior Operator in the Antofagasta region.
Responsibilities
- Execute and coordinate the operation of one or more substations, directing and/or performing maneuvers and inspections as instructed by the dispatcher.
- Supervise work and operations carried out in the facilities, ensuring quality, continuity, and service availability.
- Coordinate substation operation and related logistics, leading staff and contractors as necessary.
- Conduct periodic inspections of substation yards, electrical rooms, control systems, and associated equipment.
- Verify correct functioning of equipment, monitoring systems, instruments, protection, and communications.
- Perform operational maneuvers following authorized procedures and current regulations.
- Report risk conditions, anomalies or situations that could affect operation in a timely manner.
- Coordinate actions to protect people, facilities and assets.
- Participate in failure analysis, produce technical reports and improvement proposals for facility operation.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards set by the company.
Qualifications
- Technical degree in Electricity, Electrical Technician, Instrumentation, Electromechanics or related electrical/electronic specialty (required).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the electrical field.
- Valid B-class driver’s license (required).
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of Interconnected System and sector regulations.
- Knowledge of SAP and substation equipment software (desirable).
- Knowledge of automation and SCADA systems (desirable).
- Knowledge of protection, control and communication equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret alarms, schematics and control systems.
- Mountain Altitude Management Course and First Aid (desirable).
